How to Take Care of the Skin On Your Body

woman holding a towel to her chest looking toward blossoming trees, we see her back

When you think about it, most people tend to spend more time taking care of the skin on their face more than the skin on the rest of their body. Exfoliating scrubs, moisturizers, masks, cleansers and more make up an artillery of facial skin care and the body is often left with soap and (if it’s lucky) lotion.

So

So what are some ways you can start treating the rest of your body’s skin with some of the attention and care you take with your face

So ? A simple, effective body skin care routine will help you look and feel your best from the neck down.

Shower With Warm Water

A hot shower can feel great, but turning the heat down a bit is best for your skin. Warm showers instead of hot ones are gentler on your skin, and reduce the risk of visible broken capillaries, especially around your decollete area.

Use Mild Cleansers

Instead of just any old body wash or bar soap, look for mild, gentle body cleansers with antibacterial properties that won’t strip the oil from your skin.

Treat Body Bumps and Acne

Unfortunately, acne doesn’t always limit itself to the face. If you’re suffering from body bumps and acne, consider bath and shower products that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

Wear Sunscreen

Sunscreen is an important part of any skin care routine—not just for your face. If you’re going to be outside, you should make a habit of always applying sunscreen to your body. Sunscreen lowers your risk of skin cancer, protects your body from harmful UV rays, and can help your skin maintain a healthier, younger appearance.

Apply a Hydrating Lotion

After you shower or bathe, applying a hydrating body lotion is a great step to take care of your skin. Since the skin on your body is thicker than that of your face, you can use more concentrated, heavier lotions without the risk of blocking your pores.

Regularly Exfoliate

About every thirty days or so, our skin cells regenerate, revealing a new, plumper, more luminous looking layer. As we age, it tends to take longer for this regeneration process. Help out your skin by regularly exfoliating with a gentle exfoliating cleanser or scrub, and get rid of that top layer of dead skin cells.
