Symptoms and Treatment of a Deviated Septum
- Nasal Obstruction - One or both nostrils can become blocked, making it harder to breathe.
- Congestion - Chronic stuffiness or a feeling of fullness in the nose.
- Snoring - A deviated septum may be responsible for excessive snoring and difficulty sleeping.
- Headaches - Pressure in your sinuses could cause headaches and facial pain around your nose and eyes.
- Nosebleeds - Air blockage in the nasal canal can create dryness which causes frequent nosebleeds.
- Treatment: A combination of rhinoplasty and septoplasty surgeries are often the most effective treatment for a deviated septum. A rhinoplasty will change the shape and/or size of the nose, and a septoplasty will straighten the bone and cartilage between your nostrils.
