The 3D Facelift is a facelift specifically developed by facelift expert, Dr. Raghu Athre. Our Houston 3D Facelift procedure addresses the three categories of facial aging:
As we all age, all 3 of these factors affect our faces. The signs of this include:
Most patients incorrectly think that a facelift by itself will correct all aging related issues in the face. A facelift’s primary role is to lift sagging tissues. By properly lifting tissues with a deep plane facelift, you will see some improvements in the other two categories: loss of volume, and loss of skin elasticity and texture. However, if volume loss is severe or skin aging is severe, additional procedures are necessary.
This image depicts severe sagging of tissues with deepened nasolabial folds; moderate to severe loss of volume in tear trough, temples, and prejowl sulcus; and moderate to severe skin damage likely due to sun exposure. The woman in the image will be helped with a deep plane facelift. But, her additional aging related issues will not be repaired with solely a lift.
The 3D Facelift technique is designed to take a holistic view of the face and achieve comprehensive full facial rejuvenation that addresses all of these concerns. The 3D Facelift was designed after 10 years of research to comprehensively address facial aging, by Dr. Raghu Athre in Houston, Texas. With blending of techniques, Dr. Athre has now been offering the 3D Facelift under local anesthesia. Patients have traveled from all the surrounding states, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Europe and the Middle East to Houston to have their 3D Facelift performed by Dr. Athre.
Surgical facelifting lifts the cheeks and re-suspends tissues, bringing the cheekbones back into prominence and reestablishing the normal heart shape of youthful faces. The best facelift methods eradicate the jowls, recreate a sharp jawline and neckline, and soften the melolabial region (smile lines). To achieve this, Dr. Athre prefers a deep plane facelift. The Athre extended deep plane facelift is able to systematically elevate the cheek mound, reestablish the defined jawline, and achieve a sharp, sculpted neck.
Volume replenishment using your own fat recreates the volume of the youthful face, especially in the temples and along the lower eyelid and cheek intersection. Autologous fat transfer has several advantages over dermal fillers for volume correction.
At the end of the 3D Facelift Houston facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Athré resurfaces the entire facial skin in the procedure room. There are 4 options for skin resurfacing.
The combination of these categories of procedures serves to:
The 3D Facelift can be performed under local anesthesia with oral sedation or under general anesthesia based on factors such as patient preference, patient health history, and overall facial anatomy.
Initial bruising and swelling should go down after a few days, and patients should return for a post-op assessment after about a week. Patients are generally back to work after 2 weeks.
A 3D facelift ranges in price depending on anatomy and any concurrent procedures, such as blepharoplasty, that might be done at the same time. The 3D Facelift costs approximately $25000.
A 3D Facelift addresses all three main parts of facial aging, including ptosis (facial drooping), loss of volume, and loss of elasticity and thickness of the skin. A regular facelift addresses only the facial ptosis, while a 3D Facelift includes a traditional facelift, but also includes volume replenishment and a resurfacing procedure. A basic resurfacing procedure is a TCA chemical peel. More in-depth resurfacing procedures include CO2 or Erbium laser resurfacing.
When we age, we lose collagen and elastin not only in our skin, but in the suspensory ligaments of the face. This leads to ptosis or falling of the facial tissues. This is most noticeable along the jawline and in the neck. At the same time, we lose soft tissue and bone volume, which is most noticeable in the temples and in the under-eye region. Finally, the skin itself thins and loses its elasticity, thickness, and bounce-back. A 3D Facelift addresses all three of these issues.
The best age for a 3D Facelift candidate is dependent on the anatomy of the patient and the severity of aging effects on the skin.
Most patients are able to return to work in 12 to 14 days after a 3D Facelift procedure.
Every 3D Facelift is customized. The 3D lift by Athre is merely a name to start the conversation that full facial rejuvenation is not one size fits all. First, additional procedures can be added such as a blepharoplasty, or a brow lift if necessary.
Second, each of the procedures in the above categories can be modified. For example, if a patient only needs a RT Mini Facelift, that specific patient’s 3D Facelift will be done with an RT Lift for the lifting component. Similarly, the resurfacing portion of the surgical procedure is also customizable based on patient’s anatomy, patient’s needs, and the amount of facial aging.
Dr. Athre is Houston’s Facial Rejuvenation expert. His engineering background, and keen surgical skills have allowed him to create a procedure designed for full face rejuvenation, while still allowing it to be done under local anesthesia comfortably and safely.
“…It’s been three months since I’ve had my facelift and neck surgery and I would just like to let everyone know how pleased I am with my results… I have absolutely no regrets in doing this procedure. I feel so much better about myself and just have a better outlook on everything because my self-esteem feels much better.”
